Waking up to Kindle Scout
I was not planning on doing a blog post today, but I woke up to see that Extol of Agnatic Dreams is now trending! This means it is doing something good, which is exciting because I did work very hard on this process. Now that the writing is done, I have a month to put that link everywhere and hope people can see the promise in this story.
So far my plan of attack is focusing on twitter and facebook since those are my social media drugs of choice. I have already set up a week long paid advertisement on both. I will set up another one in two weeks. I just feel like people will stop seeing my ad if it shows too often. It makes sense to me.
I am also planning to post a few small excerpts from the book on my website and facebook page. According to the terms of service from Kindle Scout, I am allowed to use 10% of my manuscript for advertising purposes so a few small teasers should be okay. After all, the final word count is over 110,000 words.
Of course, I will be using images as much as possible for my advertisements. People seem to respond better to images than plain text online, or so the research says, and if it gets one extra click, then it is worth it. The trouble is finding the engaging images with free commercial licensing. Lucky, the internet rocks. Here is a list of sites I favor.
