A writer has to write...

... but what are we supposed to write about? My first novella has been released on Amazon this week and while I was googling on marketing strategies I faced really only a few options. One of those is keeping a blog and keeping it updated and busy. Get your name out there and interact with people, and maybe some of them will like your banter enough to buy your book. That is the theory anyway.

I looked at a few blogs to try and see if there is already out there and how to lure in these people who will spend their money to fuel my imagination and I learnt something kinda obvious. Just like with novel writing, there is no one thing that makes it a best seller. Fifty Shades was an (unfortunate) overnight success. Harry Potter stood on shelves for years before it found momentum.

My advice is always to write what you're passionate about. If you care then it will be still interested when you are done reading it for the tenth time. So what is this blog about? It is about my passion. I am passionate about many things. My family is one of them, and my work is another, but I think this blog will mostly be dedicated to my observations within literature. Young adult novels mostly but you can never quite be sure. I might even occasionally write about my own work and the creative process. Whatever that means.
